Carbon and Wood

North Coast Joinery considers the direct and indirect environmental impacts of our products.

We promote and use renewable resources.

Designing with Wood

We are involved in recycling our waste timber and metals.

We purchase products that are environmentally sourced and that support local communities.

We endeavour to use materials that generate the least amount of greenhouse gas.

Embodied Energy

It takes substantially LESS energy to produce kiln dried wood than aluminium, steel or plastic.

A growing tree stores carbon taken from carbon dioxide and releases oxygen into the atmosphere.

Approximately 40% of the weight of dry timber is stored (sequestered) carbon.

Every 1 tonne of dry timber has converted 1 1/2 tonne of CO2 into

When a tree reaches maturity the amount of carbon dioxide it uses is significantly reduced.
